Facebook has announced that it is adding Stories monetization for creators to monetize and earn money from the stories that they share. This new monetization option will be available globally to creators who are part of the Facebook Content Monetization program.
This will give creators an additional option to monetize and earn from their content. With the upcoming probability of Tiktok's ban being lifted in the U.S., Meta is making its move to attract Tiktok's creators into the Facebook and Instagram ecosystem.
This is the official video from Facebook for Creators page, announcing the Stories monetization feature:
Facebook Stories monetization will be performance-driven, another feature Meta introduced last year, encourages creators to produce higher-quality content instead of forcing them to produce longer videos just to include more ads.
Creators who have already joined the Facebook Content Monetization Program don't have to do anything else to enable stories monetization.
Facebook launched the Content Monetization program last year to combine its In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and Performance Bonus programs into a single offering. After testing Stories monetization with a group of beta participants, it is now bringing the monetization option to everyone in the program.
In 2024, millions of creators were invited to join the Facebook Creator Monetization program, and Facebook says it plans to offer open enrollment later this year. In the meantime, creators who aren’t part of the program can get an invite through its website.
In addition to this, meta is also experimenting with a creator monetization initiative for Threads as well, to keep up with the competition with X.
Meta being competitive with different apps and platforms like Tiktok for Reels, X for threads, YouTube for videos. It has to provide different kinds of monetization programs for different kinds of content.
