WhatsApp is developing a new feature that could allow users to integrate their Instagram profiles with their WhatsApp accounts. The famous beta-tracker WABetaInfo first identified the feature within the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS. It is currently in beta testing and is reportedly accessible only to a limited number of test users.

The feature was spotted in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 25.7.10.70, by WABetaInfo. Once released, users will have the option to display their Instagram profile links on their WhatsApp profiles. The link is expected to appear below the user name on a user's profile. Last week, WABetaInfo also spotted an upcoming threaded message reply feature in WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo:

"Thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.7.9 update, some beta testers can add a link to their Instagram profile, with plans to expand support to other social media platforms in the future. Users can control the privacy of these links, choosing who can see them, whether it's everyone, contacts, or specific people. This feature enhances accessibility to social media profiles while offering flexibility and control over privacy, but it does not verify account ownership and is entirely optional."

Users will also have the ability to control who can see their linked Instagram profile using WhatsApp’s current privacy settings. The options will reportedly include ‘Everyone,’ ‘My contacts,’ ‘My contacts except,’ and ‘Nobody,’ ensuring that users can manage their visibility preferences.

Currently, it is only available for Instagram, although there is speculation it may expand to other social platforms, especially Facebook and Threads which are also owned by Meta. This move could further unify Meta’s ecosystem of social networks.

WABetaInfo suggests this new functionality is still in development and only beta testers who have registered themselves via Apple's TestFlight program may have access to it at the moment. It is expected to be rolled out to more WhatsApp for iOS beta users over the next few weeks.

The same feature was also previously reported to be under development for WhatsApp for iOS users, but was only visible in preview. WhatsApp has not announced when the feature will be available to all iOS users or whether it will extend to Android devices.
