The Google's Find My Device is now allowing android users to track people like your friends and family. You can share you live location with others through the app. Currently, it is a beta feature.
There are multiple use cases, for example, if you want to hang out with your friends sharing your location for assistance, you want to track your child to ensure they reach home safely, or you wanna share your location with your loved-ones during traveling. You will get a lot of help in such scenarios.
The new Find My Device app now has two tabs at the bottom of screen, one for Devices, and one for People. The new 'People' tab is the one where you can share your live location or see other people’s locations.

In the People's tab, you will see a map and a button called "+ New Share." The map will show you the live locations of people who are sharing with you. The New Share button lets you send your location for various time periods including one hour, today only, a custom duration, or until you turn it off.
You can share your location via a link or select individual contacts to send your location, including Apple device users.

The Find My Device app is pre-installed on Pixels and some Android devices, while others can easily download it on Play Store. You can also access it through web, like the original Find My Phone app (also known as Android Device Manager), launched in 2013.
Google's Find My Device received a major upgrade last year. Previously, your phone needed Wifi or a data network to able to get its location. Last year's update make use of Bluetooth, leveraging millions of Android devices out there to find lost/stolen devices. Apple's Find My Network works in the same way.
The devices that you track down with the app can be made to play a sound to help you find them, and you also have the option to lock them or even wipe them remotely to keep your data safe, just like the original Android Device Manager from 2013.
The live location sharing features is already in the Google Maps, you can share your location with people for the time period you selected. It seems to be the same, because Google didn’t specify how it will differentiate from the exisiting Maps live sharing feature like will it also work offline, etc.
